Carlson Center Wins 2009 International
TOBY Award
Minnetonka, Minnesota – July 15th, 2009 – Carlson Center has received the 2009 International TOBY award for Low Rise Suburban Office. The award was announced at the Building Owners and Managers (BOMA) International’s annual conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
TOBY winners are recognized for excellence in their office building management and operations in specific categories of the building size or type. To win the international award, the office building must first win both the local and the regional competitions.
Judging was based on community impact, tenant/employee relations programs, energy management systems, ease and accessibility for disabled people, emergency evacuation procedures, the building personnel training programs and overall quality indicators. A team of expert industry professionals also conducted a comprehensive building inspection that was then used towards the judging scores.
Receiving The Office Building of the Year (TOBY) Award is one of the most prestigious and comprehensive awards in the commercial real estate industry. Now in its 24th year, the TOBY Awards Program recognizes properties that exemplify superior building quality and excellence in office building management. Carlson Center won at the local and regional level last year, but this is the first international win for Carlson.
On hand to accept the award was Carlson’s Senior Property manager Jami Silus and Senior Lead Engineer Don Krook.
“Winning this year’s TOBY award at the international level was an exciting culmination of a two year process. It was a group effort of the management and engineering staff at Carlson Center. Everyone was given tasks for completing the application, which not only gave us all a better understanding of the building and their functions and histories, it was a great team building process. Don and I were so proud to be a part of the awards ceremony in Philadelphia and accept such a prestigious award on behalf of Carlson Real Estate,” said Silus.
“We are proud to have the building, which spans both Plymouth and Minnetonka, in our community. Recognition by peers in your field is a true sign of achievement and, on behalf of the City of Plymouth, I offer our congratulations” said Kelli Slavik, Mayor of Plymouth.
