Matt Van Slooten receives
NAIOP's 2009 President's Award

February 8, 2010 – Minneapolis, MN – Carlson Real Estate Company's President, Matt Van Slooten, received the 2009 President's Award, presented by the Minnesota chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) at its annual Awards of Excellence program held Thursday January 21, 2010. The award recognizes his long-time active leadership within the commercial real estate industry and his involvement with his company, NAIOP and the greater community.

Highly respected by his peers, he is considered one of the smartest and most accomplished developers in the industry. His insights, wise guidance and leadership skills have been invaluable to the growth of our organization. Van Slooten joined Carlson Real Estate Company in 1989 and has served in accounting, leasing, property management, investment, and development roles during his career there, prior to being named president in 2001. Van Slooten has been actively involved with NAIOP since 1990 and served as the NAIOP Minnesota president in 2002. He can be counted on for enthusiastic participation at NAIOP functions including board and planning meetings, programs and other events. As a volunteer mentor to NAIOP Minnesota's Developing Leaders, Matt has helped to guide the next generation of industry leaders. His endorsement of this program has led to numerous and significant volunteer contributions including additional committee volunteers and leaders.

In addition to his donated time, Matt and his company are substantial financial contributors to NAIOP and supporters of NAIOP Minnesota's Penny Per Square Foot Fund to control property taxes. As a dedicated supporter of community enhancement, Matt and Carlson Real Estate Company have shown strong involvement with NAIOP Minnesota's charitable partners.

Matt's other real estate associations include the Urban Land Institute and the Building Owners and Managers Association. Matt is also a member and current board member of the Young Presidents' Organization.
